La Farge Schools honored our Veteran's today in a ceremony held in the gymnasium. Our students did a great job recognizing those who have served for us and continue to do so through singing songs, reading poems, creating artwork and playing music. On Wednesday, November 9, the juniors and seniors traveled to Viroqua to participate in Youth Government Day, a program sponsored by the American Legion. Students watched court proceedings, then went to the VFW for a lunch sponsored by the American Legion, and presentations by members of the American Legion, Sheriff John Spears, District Attorney Tim Gaskell, and Judge Darcy Rood.

4K-3rd grade families gathered for Family Literacy Night on November 9. Families enjoyed Storytime with Mrs. Jacobson, picked out some books to take home, and had the opportunity to sign up for a Public Library card. While caregivers learned more about the why, what, and how of reading with Mr. Hansen and Mrs. Curtis, children shared their dreams or drew themselves in the night sky with Miss Grainger, Miss Wilson, Miss Smedema, and Mrs. Wirts. The evening will be the first of other family events this year.

Spanish classes have been busy participating in some Mexican Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) traditions throughout the past couple of weeks. Students helped design and decorate an ofrenda altar in the classroom in memory of lost loved ones, learned about the customs behind these cultural celebrations, got to taste authentic pan de muerto (bread of the dead) and other cultural foods, and decorated calaveritas or sugar skulls. Feliz Día de Muertos!

The elementary students have been busy in Mrs. Michaels' music classes.
The Fifth Graders have been practicing songs on their recorders so that they can earn permission to take them home for practice. Our goal; make music, not noise!
The First Graders have been practicing moving instruments from their places on the shelves to their places on the floor so they can play them. The new music space makes these routines so much easier!
The Kindergarten, Second Grade, Third Grade, and Fourth Grade classes have been practicing some fun fall songs! Click on the link below to watch videos of each class.
